For over 25 years Nyetimber has had a single aim: to make the finest English sparkling wine, one to rival the very best in the world, including Champagne. A true pioneer, Nyetimber was the very first producer of English sparkling wine to craft wines exclusively from the three celebrated grape varieties found in Champagne: Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. Each bottle of Nyetimber is crafted from one hundred percent of estate-grown grapes. In 1988, Nyetimber planted its first vines and today, the House is regarded as one of England’s finest wine producers. Owner Eric Heerema and winemaker Cherie Spriggs are committed to producing wines of a Grande Marque standard.
Cherie Spriggs, head winemaker at Nyetimber said:
“England is arguably at the forefront of cool climate viticulture, so we’re very excited to be hosting ICCWS here in 2016. Since planting our first vines in 1988, Nyetimber has been making award-winning wines in the English climate and we are very proud of what we’ve already achieved. We’ve learnt a great deal along the way and look forward to discussions with other experts from the global wine community. It’s this spirit of collaboration and knowledge sharing at the heart of ICCWS that really sets it apart from other events. The future of cool climate winemaking is brimming with possibilities and we’re excited to play our part in shaping this future alongside other respected English wine producers.”
