AUSTRIAN WINE MARKETING BOARD
One of the world’s most respected generic wine marketing bodies
The Austrian Wine Marketing Board (Österreich Wein Marketing GmbH) is based in Vienna and is a national service body for the Austrian wine industry. The organization was founded in 1986 with the aim to strategically support, coordinate and maintain quality and sales. Its main goal for the domestic market is to strive for an increased market share of Quality Wine, along with the export of bottled quality wine, with particular focus on the continued increase in value.
The AWMB’s strategy is to create a balanced mix of marketing activities, that are individually tailored towards their respective markets, including sales support and point of sale materials, image folders, as well as proactive public relations supported by an ongoing advertising campaign (with a special focus on the local characteristics of the wines and their wine-growing regions with the regional wine committees).
Why are we sponsoring the ICCWS 2016?
Managing Director Willi Klinger, who is also a speaker at the ICCWS 2016, comments on their involvement: “The specific climate at the Eastern edge of the Alps is the main asset for the uniqueness of Austria’s wines. While the beneficial influence of the “pannonian” climate with warm air coming from the Hungarian lowlands regularly provides a high level of grape maturity, the cool airstreams from the North help maintaining an appropriate amount of acidity at the same time. There isn’t a place on earth where dense, opulent wines taste so nimble, and where fresh wines are so compact. We think to be one of the classic examples of excellent cool climate wine producing countries. So we are very looking forward to meet colleagues from other countries and share experiences, visions and strategies with them.”
