One of the UK’s foremost wine companies has pledged its support for the 9th International Cool Climate Wine Symposium.
Laithwaite’s Wine, owned and run by husband and wife team, Tony and Barbara, has become the first sponsor of the International Cool Climate Wine Symposium, backing up their strong belief in the importance of – and potential of – the English and Welsh wine industry.
Both Tony and Barbara are vignerons themselves, with Barbara’s award-winning Wyfold Vineyard being located in the picturesque Chiltern Hills. Most recently their son, Henry, has taken the plunge too with a plot near Marlow, and Tony and Barbara recently planted vines in Windsor Great Park when the pair became tenants of the Royal Farm.
With their customary organisational flair, Laithwaite’s Wine will be hosting The Cool Wine Show, as part of the Sussex International Food & Drink Festival, due to take place alongside the Symposium. Visitors will be able to taste and buy hundreds of fine wines, including many produced by delegates of the Wine Symposium, as well as meet the winemakers and enjoy tasting masterclasses.
“We are delighted to be able to sponsor this important international event,” said Laithwaite’s Wine’s Justin Howard-Sneyd MW, adding that they were pleased to be able “to help focus attention on the world’s more marginal growing regions”.
