First call for abstracts for the 9th ICCWS

We are now welcoming abstract submissions for the ICCWS taking place in Brighton, UK in 2016.

In May 2016, leading members of the international wine community will gather in Brighton to share ideas on vine growing, winemaking and the business of wine.

A very strong team of guest speakers has already been appointed, but the main programme will also feature presentations, workshops, tastings, posters, demonstrations, visits, debates, lightning talks, panel discussions and break-out sessions.

With just one year to go until the Symposium, we are welcoming the submission of abstracts on the following themes:

Viticulture

  • Soil management in vineyards
  • Achieving vine balance
  • Emerging vineyard pests and diseases
  • Developments in pest & disease management
  • Combatting Botrytis in the vineyard
  • Managing climate-based variability
  • Managing phenolics in the vineyard
  • Protected and semi-protected viticulture
  • New technologies for optimising fruit quality and vineyard management
  • Wine production in challenging climates
  • Wine education and training

 

Oenology

  • Managing phenolics in the winery
  • Combatting Botrytis in the winery
  • Managing climate-based variability
  • Advances in sparkling wine production
  • Innovations in cool climate wine styles
  • Sensory science and wine evaluation
  • Wine education and training

 

Wine Business

  • The economics of wine production
  • Managing climate-based variability
  • New technological trends that impact on the marketing of wine
  • Innovations in cool climate wine styles
  • Wine education and training

Abstracts must be based on original research, analysis and synthesis of current ideas relevant to (but not necessarily exclusively relevant to) cool climate wine producers. The deadline for the first call is July 3rd 2015, but there may be a second call in September 2015 for any themes with vacant slots.
